The game features a soundtrack with more mainstream pop music spanning multiple genres, along with original music characteristic to other entries in the series. The Wii version includes a new Choreography mode incorporating Wii Remote and Nunchuck motions alongside foot motions. The PlayStation 3 version adds Chain Arrow and Groove Trigger features, PlayStation Move support, and some Challenge difficulty songs using corner buttons of the dance pad.

Wii gameplay includes Classic mode, Choreography mode, goal-based challenges that unlock outfits and songs, and a mode using the Wii Balance Board. PS3 gameplay includes Chain Arrow (score bonus for maintaining a combo through certain arrow sections) and Groove Trigger (reduces lifebar by 50% to increase points for a period). PlayStation Move mode places four targets around the player, hit with the motion controller when special diagonal arrows appear.
